My First Visit
On your first visit to Price Chiropractic Associates, Inc. you will be welcomed as a member of our family. You will then be asked to complete the required forms which will help us gain some information about yourself and your condition.
Dr. Mitchell A. Price or Dr. Nicole B. Jensen will then talk with you and ask some specific health related questions regarding your condition to determine how to proceed with your chiropractic care, or if he cannot help you, you will be referred to a doctor that will be able to help you the most.
After a thorough consultation with the doctor, you will receive a thorough chiropractic examination. This will include testing your reflexes, your range of motion as well as other standard orthopedic, neurologic, postural, and physical examinations. If necessary, the doctor may take X-rays or refer you for additional testing procedures.
Once all the information and examinations have been performed, the doctor will give you a report of findings and recommendations for treatment. This may include spinal manipulation, ultrasound, muscle stimulation, moist heat and massage. Most of our patients begin to see results from the very first adjustment.
Stages of Care
It is important to understand the stages of chiropractic care because it addresses the core physiological and biomechanical aspects of the body. The process to correct problems without drugs or surgery can take some time. Some conditions can be treated in a few visits, while others may take longer.
First Stage: Relief Care
The majority of patients consult a chiropractor because they have an ache or pain. In the first phase of care, the main objective is to eliminate or reduce your discomfort and stabilize your condition in the shortest amount of time. During this phase, progress is usually rapid. Patient's are generally recommended to "take it easy" but are encouraged to stay mobile & functional so long as there is not a risk of further injury or tissue damage.
The number of times you visit a chiropractor during this phase of care varies and is dependent upon your specific condition. It's hard to say how long it will be until you see relief--it could be as short as a week or up to a month.
Second Stage: Corrective Care
Once your condition has stabilized, you enter the second phase of care, where the objective is to correct any underlying injury or cause or discomfort, strengthen the muscles, and imporve neuromusculoskeletal function. The frequency of office visits is reduced over a period of two to six weeks. Care may be supplemented by rehabilitation exercises and modification of daily habits.
It is important to remember that many of the conditions for which people seek care have developed over many years; therefore, correcting these problems is a true rehabilitative process. It helps to understand that it takes time to correct these conditions.
Once discomfort has subsided, you may think all is well and choose to abandon your care. However, if you end your care before fully healing the muscles and soft tissues, you can invite a relapse. This is a mistake many people make, and it sets them up for recurring health issues.
Final Stage: Wellness Care
You then "graduate" to the wellness phase, which is designed to maintain your improved health, encourage normal spinal function, prevent the return of the original condition, and watch small problems before they become serious. A personal wellness care program will be designed specifially for you where we teach you how to incorporate good nutrition and exercise habits into your everyday, life, thereby promoting vitality, endurance, and the ability to enjoy life at its fullest.
Few things as complicated as your body can be "fixed" and then ignored. Think of your car, your teeth, or your relationships. They take time and effort to maintain, but you know its worth it in the long run. That's why we recommend a regular schedule of chiropractic check-ups.
Family Care
Chiropractic care has been helping families for years. Many patients see their chiropractic doctor as their family doctor. That's smart. The cost of surgery is rising. The adverse reactions to drugs receive front-page news. Families want safe and natural solutions. More and more are choosing chiropractic care first.
Family care can start from the very beginning. Babies can benefit when their pregnant mothers receive chiropractic care. During this period of weight gain and hormonal changes, many mothers seek chiropractic care. They often report easier births.
Newborns, infants, and children can benefit too. The birth process may be the cause of our first subluxation! Then, learning to walk, ride a bike, or play sports can produce so-called growing pains. Ignored, these problems may worsen until they can become more difficult to correct as an adult.
Car accidents, work injuries, and the stress and strains of our busy lives can produce subluxations. Periodic chiropractic checkups can be helpful. Many patients report more energy, vitality, and better overall health.
Seniors enjoying an active retirement stop by our office too. Safe and natural chiropractic care makes sense. They see how the structure of the spine can affect the nervous system and how their body works.
Regardless of your age or condition, a better working spine is good for your health. Share your chiropractic experience with others, starting with the ones you love.
